If you have never been involved in day trading futures before, it is very similar to trading other types of futures that are available through the commodities market. Although there are a lot of ins and outs of this particular type of trading, it really boils down to estimating which direction the market is going to go and then to purchase the contract which will allow you to purchase the stock at the future price. In other words, you can purchase something for what it is currently worth, in the hopes that it will go up in price in the future so that when the contract matures, you can sell it for profit.

Many times, futures trading online takes place over the course of a week or more and there are very few people who engage in this practice that do more than one or two futures trades in the week. When day trading futures, however, you're often placing two or three of these every single day and since you're not carrying any of your trading over into the next active day, they will all be closed down before you go to sleep at night. This has its advantages and disadvantages.

Perhaps one of the greatest advantages to day trading futures is the fact that you do not need to be concerned after the trading day is over as to which direction the market is going to go. Since it is already closed till the next day, you can simply go about your business and begin day trading futures again fresh in the morning. On the other hand, you are bound to have good days and bad days whenever you are day trading futures so you should be prepared for the possibility of a losing day as well.

Another benefit to day trading futures is that you become familiar with the futures market very quickly. Instead of having to wait a week or more to get the experience of each and every trade, you are doing several within a day which can quickly familiarize you with the system. You may even find that you are moving from day trading futures to trading futures in a more traditional sense. You can also branch out into other types of trading, such as options trading which also is very similar to the futures market.

Regardless of whether you make day trading futures a permanent part of your trading practices or not, it can help to give you some experience that will assist you in almost all areas of your trading.
